ENJOY SOY!

It's all about the wax.

With so many different waxes available for home fragrance among other things, it can be a bit overwhelming for something that seems like it should be simple. Hearing terms like "hot throw", "cold throw" and "burn pool" can be a bit offputting when all you really want to do is have a nice smelling candle.

So, which wax is actually the best?

While this is a big question, and can also be broken down into so many sections (better for scent throw, better for burn time, better for appearance etc), generally a good "all-rounder" is the ideal place to start looking for that answer...

Soy Wax. The answer is, Soy Wax is the best.

Obviously this is subject to personal opinion, but generally Soy Wax is a fabulous "all-rounder" that ticks pretty much all the boxes when it comes to scent throw, burn time, appearance (frosting is SO pretty!), and most importantly of all - the environment.
So let's start from the top - Soy wax has it’s own charm and character, and has an endless number of benefits when used in candle making. Here are a few of the big ones...

Environment
Soy Wax a natural wax made from a renewable resource. Soybeans are an environmentally friendly, sustainable and renewable resource - and it's biodegradable!

Health
Soy Wax is Non-Toxic! Yes that's right! Soy wax is clean burning, meaning much less soot is released. It doesn't release carcinogens or pollutants, and is much less likely to triger allergies than other "popular" waxes.

Scent & Burn Time
The Big Ones! While some other "popular" waxes may give the impression of a stronger scent initially (cold throw), this doesn't tend to last and these burn through quickly (and usually tunnel*). Soy Wax Candles have a more natural fragrance initially, and they actually hold their scent - hot and cold. Soy wax burns up to 50% longer than other waxes and has a healthier 'burn pool' releasing more fragrance. In short, Soy Wax has a slower release of fragrance with a steadier burn. Less initial artificial punch = more longer lasting deliciousness.
*Tunneling does occur for a HUGE number of reasons so it can sometimes be difficult to pin point why this happens. But don't fear! There are some super simple ways to help and get full use out of a tunnelled candle though - Post & Video coming soon!

Some more major wins for Soy Wax are the Soy Wax won't ruin your walls, due to less soot being produced.

Soy Wax is easier to clean - (watch "How To Clean + Refill Your Candle" here!)

Soy Wax is pet safe due to it's non-toxic qualities (although furries are still flammable so keep your candles up and out of the way!).

The list goes on. So, are there any downsides...?
Nope!

Perhaps frosting? I see the questions "How to stop candle frosting" alot.
Frosting has a bad reputation for some reason, asthetically frosting could be viewed as a negative, but here's the secret... that's how you know it's Soy Wax! Frosting, lumps and bumps are a true indication that something is made from pure Soy Wax. Such a reassurance, and always beautifully unique too!

It’s a natural wax and products made from soy wax naturally have a frosting throughout.  Frosting on soy wax is completely normal. It does not affect the performance of candles, wax melts or any other soy wax products, and it really can be quite stunning!

So just to recap, which wax is actually the best?

Altogether now... Soy Wax. Soy Wax is the best!

These are just a handful of reasons I chose to use Soy Wax for all of my wax products. The Belle Brightly Soy Wax is a blend of a softer soy wax & a harder soy wax, is non-toxic, cruelty free and vegan.
